Zizou, Zizou, Zizou... why? Once again, taunts of racism & homosexuality send the beautiful game into freefall (no comments about Justin Fashanu, please, hyuk hyuk hyuk...)

Henry dealt with it earlier in the game by telling that racist twonk Buffon - translates as 'clown', molto appropriate, non? - to f*off...

My friend, who speaks several languages, says the exchange went something like this...

Materazzi gives Zizou a nipple tweak.

Z (Smiling): You would like some more my sweet?

M: Not now nig*ger, Mohammed & your mother tired me out too much last night.

I know that this might be contentious, but I feel quite strongly that the likes of Cronaldo, Materazzi and all anyone else guilty of cynical fouls & provoking behaviour should be sent off themselves, too. Then, if it's still drawn at ninety minutes, we can forget extra time & penalties and just have bareknuckle fighting instead.

Really hope that whatever 'dignity' has been restored to the Italian domestic game by last night's 'win' will be ripped out from under them when not only do Lazio, Juve & co get relegated today, but the world title is rightly given to - can't believe I'm writing this - the non-cheating French!

Allez les Bleus!

I don't know what Materrazi said, but no matter what it was it could have waited until after the game. It was selfish, senseless and distasteful. Zidane cried on his way off the field because he knew he screwed up bad.

Italy and France made for a good match, but if you look at the entire tournament the best team won. It was not luck - the Italians fought with heart and soul and were going to win regardless of Zidane's poor decision.

I am not sure what was said, but reading the other answers was along the lines of what I would guess transpired between them.

At the end of the day Zidane was a fool for letting himself get provoked like that.

He has been in the game long enough to know to ignore insultive remarks, especially when you're representing your country in the final of the biggest tournament on the planet in your last international appearance!!!

What a shame a player of his calibre let his international career end on such a low!!!! He let himself, his team-mates, his country and the game down.

Any possible racist remarks could have been dealt with afterwards via the officials. They are out of order too, but all everyone saw was the headbutt!!!!

For Shame!!!!

I applaud your attempt. over the final 3 or greater years, I even have published some thing comparable in tone to this various cases. The pendulum swings back and forth on right here. A time of peace, a time of spats, a time of all out affronts, then the airborne dirt and dust settles, and a time of peace returns. the information superhighway is a microcosm of the particular international. There are the best, the risky, the solid and the evil, the affected person and the passionate. The venture of existence is to confirm the place you stand with all that around you, and are available across what you're able to do to make it an more suitable place. interior the top, all of us ought to look interior the replicate. I, for one, am nonetheless studying.

vaffanculo (italian for f*** u) u ugly bold and stupido french frog lol in few mins we gonna be holding the world cup

kidding

Materazzi didnt said anything . Check this out

"Italy's coach Marcello Lippi last night insisted Marco Materazzi said nothing to provoke Zinédine Zidane into the extraordinary head-butt that led to the France captain's late dismissal. Lippi claimed the referee Horacio Elizondo had received help from an official on the sidelines for "a flagrant breach of Fifa's rules" before sending Zidane off.
"You will realise it was not Materazzi who got the attention of the referee," said Lippi. "It was the fourth and fifth officials looking at the video at the edge of the pitch. We did not do anything. They saw it and they called the attention of the referee."

Even if something was said Zidane has NO EXCUSE for what he did . wat he did is far more worst that any word Materazzi coulda said

italy had to stop zidane if they're to win the world cup so i guess what happened was part of that strategy except that it probably went too far esp. if it's true that a racial slur was employed. i wonder if the ref hadn't sent out zidane alone but materrazi too, would we have the same outcome? just asking....

Whatever was said is not really the issue. However how he reacted was wrong, it takes a much stronger person to walk away. If it was a racist taunt, it now cannot be investigated properly. If he had tried to stay clam, reported it to officials after the game it may of had a positive outcome, stamping out racism in football.
