As in, they ask questions, which if they were to put the keywords into a search engine they would be taken to a website that answers their querie truthfully and negates people from telling them mistruths about what they want to know. Are people so silly that they do not think about doing this and instead rely on other people who can lie to them?

For one some people don't have time to search though what come up in search engine. Out of 100 sites about 80 are usually not what you need. So this is a good place to have others do it for you and you reward them with 10 points
Sometimes they don't want a site or answer from a search engine sometimes they want what you think, your experience
Or they could just be lazy.
Maybe they are in the asking mood and can't think of anything else to ask.
Just some maybe reasons, but you would have to ask each person who asks a question you think is pointless to find out why they asked that question.
Just like this one, if you did a search on yahoo answers you would see this has been asked over and over again and you would not of had to ask.
But I am not complaining, as far as I am concerned people can ask all the "pointless" questions they want as long as the keep it respectful and clean. I hate rude or dirty questions.
