One suspects that they paid off everyone at the world cup including the television stations covering the event. Viva Italia! - Next stop relegation to the Samoan division of world football.

Zizou, Zizou, Zizou... why? Once again, taunts of racism & homosexuality send the beautiful game into freefall (no comments about Justin Fashanu, please, hyuk hyuk hyuk...)

Henry dealt with it earlier in the game by telling that racist twonk Buffon - translates as 'clown', molto appropriate, non? - to f*off...

My friend, who speaks several languages, says the exchange went something like this...

Materazzi gives Zizou a nipple tweak.

Z (Smiling): You would like some more my sweet?

M: Not now nig*ger, Mohammed & your mother tired me out too much last night.

I know that this might be contentious, but I feel quite strongly that the likes of Cronaldo, Materazzi and all anyone else guilty of cynical fouls & provoking behaviour should be sent off themselves, too. Then, if it's still drawn at ninety minutes, we can forget extra time & penalties and just have bareknuckle fighting instead.

Really hope that whatever 'dignity' has been restored to the Italian domestic game by last night's 'win' will be ripped out from under them when not only do Lazio, Juve & co get relegated today, but the world title is rightly given to - can't believe I'm writing this - the non-cheating French!

Allez les Bleus!

i don't know about that but isn't this the same ref who red carded rooney in the eng v. portugal match? i guess he's just super strict huh? i also read somewhere that the refs could only make their calls based on what they actually see on the pitch and that viewing the video replay of incidents is a violation of fifa rules. it was even insinuated that the french coach or even zidane should have protested this. remember that headbutting incident involving luis figo? no red card was given because the refs didn't see it but all viewers did. well anyway that's water under the bridge now.

Maybe Zidane payed the referee after the match for not being so harsh with him and cutting out half his fee........what do you think about the head butt.....a wonderful thing to do being the main player of france and the captain too....playing the last match!!!

ok sure that objective delivered us down yet lets no longer ignore argentina scored 3 aims which 2 were no longer the ref's fault. aguirre surprises me even as he brings barrera in he takes guardado out astonishing i ask your self what is going on in his brains. why no longer have both in? and robust for chicharito he confirmed manchester united that even although mexico cant win he's a sturdy participant to assume. congrats argentina and bypass germany!

And the winner of today's' 'Stupidest question on Yahoo Answers goes to...'

Really, didn't you watch the game? Italy were the best team, as they were throughout the entire competition. Try to be more gracious in your own defeat.

Come on.. it would be an outrage if Zidane wasn't sent off for that headbutt.

I say bring on video reviews for refs. This case proves the point for the need for it.

I second what Rodders had to say. Zizou needs to come forward and tell the world what the idiot said to him. No doubt rascist and inappropriate. Expose the italian team for what they are.

They played fair and square quit complaining. What did they do that was so bad. If they paid the refs they wouldn't have offsides called on them and lose goals. What did they do that was cheating?
