yes, very true.
I have 20 months old son. Watching them do those cute l'il things, first smile, first time when he sat, first tooth, first word, first time when he could stand on his own, first time he walked and many more such precious moments r worth the pain of delivery, sleepless nights...
My heart skips a beat when my son looks at me and give that sweetest smile :-)

I always get shot down for saying what I think on this topic, but I'm in a masochistic mood so: I don't much care for babies. They smell bad, they make earsplitting noise, they jerk and twitch as if they have nerve damage, they make ferocious messes and, being plump, bald and hairless, are no more appealing than my great-grandfather.

This is my honest opinion; and, believe me, honesty is only respected when your opinion coincides with the majority.

Will I be jumped? Will I be informed that I wil change my mind when it's my own (not likely, as I'm post-menopausal)? Let the bashing begin: babies are about as interesting as watching chicken parts thaw.

I agree. I love babies. A newborn smells so sweet. Their faces are so peaceful - having just come from being with the angels - with their tiny little crooked smiles while they sleep. It is a soul-soothing thing to rock with a newborn who has just received a clean diaper and has a little tummy full of milk. Just watching them sleep while holding their little hand warms your heart. One of my life's goals is to be a "baby rocker" volunteer in a hospital.

But a newborn communicates in her own language. You may hear her cry. You may see her shut down or turn away when overstimulated. Or you may watch her attempt to comfort herself by putting fist or fingers in her mouth, continuing to cry or eventually falling asleep.
It is so exciting and enjoyable
