it should be somewhrere betwen the two. i think 1000-2000 meters would be a better scale.

The correct answer should be who achieves the greatest speed right? as in the fastest..
the distance is relative, but the fastest human doesnt necessarly have to be in the 100m.. in the 60 dash in indoor track they go faster.. If there was a way to tell point speed, then you could really find out who is the fastest
the marathon guy for sure not, he will be the most efficient

100 m runner is the fastest
Long distance running is the measure of ones staminna.
Yes, 100 m is ideal for judging the fastest man, Man can sustain his Top speed only for a short distance, 100 m race is designed to know who is that person who can achive the top speed, the importance here is for the speed and not for the distance.
Take for example an F1 car and a solar powerd car, an F1 car will run out of fuel with in 30-45 mins, but a solar powed car can run for ever, but which one is faster?

the 100m winner is the fastest man. As long as the distance is the same for all competitors (for fastest man) and obviously not to long, 100m is the ideal. The marathon winner would just have more stamina, so he might be able to run longer than the 100m winner. You can see it in their thigh muscles as well. The 100m winner would have bigger stronger thighs than the marathon winner.

I'd say the 100-meter dash measures speed, whereas the marathon measures endurance. The marathon winner rarely runs at full speed; he/she instead maintains a steady pace so as to conserve energy and finish the race.
So for my munny, the 100-m winner is the fastest man.

Fast means speed, so the 100m runner is faster. If you take any 100m section from a marathon runners race, it will be slower in comparison.
Fastest man on earth could include with help e.g. landspeed records in cars?

If you're talking "fastest" you're talking speed and let's face it: no one can beat the speed of the 100m winner.

i would say its the 100m runner only because he reaches a faster top speed making him faster... the marathon runner is more like the person with the most endurance.
