ppl go on about how today's music isn't "real" and that its all crap etc. e.g. Ppl slate today's rock/punk/metal and go on about how new bands are copying "proper" bands.. don't they realise that's how a genre develops and progresses otherwise we'd all still be listening to judas priest, sex pistols etc? Respect to those bands obv for what they did for the scene but surely ppl want the scene to progress/change/expand/evolve?

You make a good point. I think that because of the narrow programming on radio it's easy to forget that there are always new and interesting artists out there. They are just a little harder to find. In fact, most of the new stuff I've listened to for the last 20 years has received little or no airplay in my city. Things are always changing and some of what is considered junk today may just be ahead of its time.

I despise Judas Priest and Sex Pistols.

There's good music forming everyday. However, I say the best music that was formed happened around the 1990s, for opinion's sake.

People do tend to get stuck in one genre, the one that was "hip" when they were teenagers. Don't worry though intelligent people like music from any genre, or age. Personally I like great musicians, and don't worry so much about what they are playing.
