Was he really provoked by Italian player Materazzi ? Or was it a sign of frustration? I guess the coveted Golden Globe Award is a consolation for the French...

Well friends - do not forget that inspite of holding an high responsible position , afterall ZIDANE is a human being not a saint- we can clearly see a laughing cool face of zidane suddenly turning red and headbutting Materazzi- involuntarily , pls remember involuntary actions can never be controled - so here our Cool Hero was insulted to an extreme extent that even blinded his mind that he is the captain of the French team playing the World Cup final match. So we should really punish /acuse Materazzi for provoking and driving him to do so. The lip readers have clealy revealed that Materazzi has said words like UGLY - TERRORIST- PROSTITUTE - F___ YOURSELF - which are highly insulting and breaks the moral values for which any sport is played. This is an preplanned ,foxy action by the Italian just to make an advantage to win the World cup.So friends if u think that u can stand these words if someone utters to u - then u can say no excuse to Zidane

Materazzi has a reputation as a nasty player. He said something, ... but what? Something really provocative, and don't forget: Zidane was also exhausted, harried, frustrated (his incredible header had recently been saved), and injured (shoulder). This makes his reaction understandable; but was it still disgraceful? Yes. Zidane is so strong and precise that a headbutt from him to the chest of Materazzi is something that might even kill. No words, however harsh, deserve that kind of response. It is really a pity that such a great player should go out this way.

First of all it is the Golden Ball award and Zidane really deserved this despite his red card in the final. He was provoked because the score was 1-1. He wouldn't be frustrated unless he was fouled and the ref let play go on but that wasn't the case. Materazzi had something to say.

I think Zidane was already frustrated at the beginning of the game. He seemed to have distant himself really far from Cannavarro when they exchanged flags and football, hardly a friendly handshake or anything. I thought he seemed agitated but I didn't rule it as anything. I guess his annoyance or frustration escalated over time. It was shocking I agree, but who in this world hasn't venged out anger publicly despite knowing there will be repercussions. It happens. To me Zidane is still an amazing player, the whole incident just added to his smogasboard of everchanging personality and football history.

Russian news: David Trezeguet was standing near by while it happened and shared what he heard with journalists:

Zidane to Materazzi - you played with you hand, boy, used your hands
M - you're mistaken (it only seemed that way to you)
Z - that's the only way you can stop me. Just wait, we'll bit you in penalty and then you can find something better to do with your hands.
M - keep dreaming! In an hour you mother will (rude words) me, the champion!

Then Zizou hit him. Sorry for amatuer translation (first it was translated from Italian into French, then into Russian, then I translated in into English, so mistakes are possible. But the meanint is clear.)

I am very sad about what happened in that game. We don't know what Materazzi said to Zidane and how Zidane is sensitive about that. but we did not want that Zidane

Provoked?
Let's say I go in public place and some crazy idiot calls me "dirty Arab"(I have black hair so i can pass as an Arab) or "terrorist". Should I headbutt his person?
By picking he fight publicly Zidane actually proved that would he not be a football player he may end up as a terrorist.

This is exactly a good illustration of the problem civilization has with some minorityes. Someone calls them derogatory name, and instead of either ignoring it or reporting it they begin violent fight.

Henry and other black stars are occasionally provoked by openly racist remarks from the stands or opponents in CLand PL games, and can cope with it. So WTF is wrong with Zidane? Is going to fight every time someone would call him "dirty Arab" or "mother***r"? He will end up in jail then

What I want to know is what that Italian player said to Zidane to provoke such an action in front of so many people.

Would Zidane have been the kicker instead of the player who missed the penalty? Ah, questions, questions. ;-)

How on earth can butthead Zidane win any kind of award after his disgraceful headbutt assault last night? It just reflects on the character of the person as a player... there's the French for you

ZZ was definitely provoked , and u shoudnt call it "disgraceful exit" , do you know how you will react in his place? it was quite inordinate exit , nobody did it before . and dont blame him that french lost . if Bartez would be a bit faster .., or the other player sharper ? Zidane is the best !
