The first step is admitting you have a problem. A cliche', I know, but a true one.

The second step is making sure you actually KNOW what the negative and positive behaviors actually ARE. Attention isn't a bad thing, nor is a desire for it. But knowing what are proper and improper methods is key. Most of this can be determined by asking yourself:
-Why am I engaging in an attention-seeking behavior right now?
-Is this behavior helping myself at the cost of others?
-Are these costs truly justified?
-Are there other less costly ways I could gain this attention?
-Should I gain attention in this, or any other fashion, at this time?
-Why or why not?

If you find you have great difficulty answering or accepting those questions, chances are you're defining your own behavior. But your best form of therapy may come from your most trusted friends; Ask the people who love you what your flaws are in this respect in an open and caring environment. Be prepared to hear things you may not want to hear, but understand that these statements are intended to help and not hurt.

Finally...don't expect this to be solved in a week. Chances are if you're asking this, you've been having these problems for awhile. You probably will have a hard time breaking from destructive memes (see source) for quite some time, but they can be broken. Keep at it, and keep aware.

I have to chuckle at this question and some of the answers people have given. There is nothing wrong with childish, attention-seeking behavior as long as it does not hurt anyone.
Personally it can be cute, but you also have to remember
you born natural age and how this behavior can affect you and those around you.

it is a problematic one. On one hand, you don't need to alienate her in besides, yet you don't need for use both. i'm a youthful people counselor and that i propose you communicate mutually with her college counselor about it to get an theory of what to do. If she not continues to be mutually with her mom and stepfather, then someone can accompany her out of the college if that is an argument as antagonistic to her staying late. oftentimes at the position I artwork, if there is an situation with a baby or relations, the extra those that learn about it, the extra help you could get to come back up with a answer. That workstation is perhaps a diary of a few variety. see you later as she isn't disrupting the classification, is it an situation mutually with her writing in her workstation once finished mutually with her classification artwork? Use slightly good judgment mutually with her even as she makes an A truly of an A+. even as become the finest time an A become seen a nasty grade?

Attention seeking behavior is not necessarily a bad thing. The question is why are you seeking the attention in the way you are??

Maybe you should be asking yourself that.

Hi there,
You should definitely attend a dog training course if you want to stop these unwanted behaviours. A good one I found online is http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=572

It's really well made (it has a lot of videos), simple and effective. I recommend it.

I believe that everyone deep inside will have this behaviour in us. It's like an innate characteristics. But to keep it to the minimise, I suggest is to stay calm before throwing tantrums, put yourself into others' people shoes.

Everyone likes attention, but if its annoying your friends you need to stop. Just slap yourself every time you catch yourself doing it.

Try to be more adult-like. Keep yourself busy doing various activities. If you are very busy then you won't think about it. You won't have time to think about it.
