It is natural that children are the centre of our universe, we would die for them, and many of us do. Once you become a parent you appreciate your own parents and what they did for you. So the binding of life, that seemingly unending thread that holds us together becomes so strong we react to every minute tug, whether from above or below.
Yet the character without children, does he also care so little for his parents, are they severed also as he so from that umbilical tie that gave him life? Could someone so heartless share a bond with another being, one has to doubt, and pity him.

Nope he's not the majority at all, he needs professional help and the sooner the better.
After I had each of my 2 sons all of my views changed to the better and I'm very grateful about that too. As each of my sons grew up so did I.---- I learned that there are more important things in life then just me.---- I learned that being loved by those two precious boys was more than I could ever have imagined.---- I learned a new and wonderful kind of love and understanding that comes with being a parent and that's something that no amount of money can ever buy.
As for that "johncharlesty" and his lack of views and about what happens, etc., I for one don't give a damn about his views on anything because he's a heartless person with a very small and empty mind and "I don't care about any of what he says", I don't care!
Now he's the kind of person who's views are so distorted on life in general that it's best to stay away from him and others like him as his kind are the trouble makers of this world.
I'm a caring person who is grateful to have my children and the wonderful lessons that being a parent has taught me.
I'm in a better majority then "johncharlesty" and I'm proud of it too.

I have realized a lot more about this world now that I have a child of my own. I certainly hope that that guy does not represent how most child-less adults feel. But they could never understand unless they were parents too. People who say their pets are like babies, yeah right! Not even close. With a child you are responsible for their moral, mental, physical, and emotional well-being. You have to make sure that they are going to be a decent member of society. How could anyone not care about what happens to kids tho? We all were one! How would they like it if they were the ones who got abused? Maybe that guy was, and hes just cold and heartless now. Who knows. But I definetly think that the environment we are creating for our children is a toxic one. We are teaching them that instant gratification is best, everything must be bigger and better and faster, its ok to be a horrible person cuz being "judgemental" is bad, etc. Its our job as parents to combat all the junk that is out there for our kids, and hope that sickos dont undo our hard work. Best of luck!

I am sure that having children does change your views of the world. I don't have my own children, but when my nephew was born even that had a strong effect on what seems important. However, children or not, this chap's uncaring (and very rude) response is really unpleasant - he sounds like a very cross man. I don't know what question it was in response to, but it's a pretty angry answer. Still, I suppose everyone is entitled to their point of view, but to actually answer your question, I don't think he would be the majority

i don't have children but i still care about things like that. If i hear anything on the news or in the papers about a paedophile or anything then i get quite upset and think it's really sad, even though i don't have kids. Some people are just like that though, because they cannot relate to it they don't care but not all people are like it, that's just insensitive and rude, if he did have kids i bet he would look at it differently.

I don't think having chidren changes your views I think being a human being with feelings changes your views. What he said makes no sense and if he really feels that way maybe he is a pedophile himself. Who knows? Anyway children are sent from heaven and should be loved and nurtured and taught that society isn't always right and that there are bad people out there and they should always watch out for people like him, they are the ones to be afraid of and the only way my veiws changed was because of people like him. My children actually made my life more enjoyable and pleasurable and made my life more worth living. I cherish every moment I have with them and will have with my grandchildren. What he should be concerned about is our children are our future so in my opinion he should change his views about them. Anyway I think the more education and knowledge you have is what changes your views not children, but knowing there are people like him out there will help you to make more informed decisions where your children are concerned.

He's not the majority. He is a sick person. Having kids changed my view. I started caring more. They do frustrate me at times but they made me more caring.

johncharlesty's views are marginal, anti-social, and not indicative of the general population.
Most of my friends don't have children. They are concerned about paedophiles (this is a normal reaction regardless of being a parent or not). They, too, are interested in what is happening within the school system and also concerned about abuse of children.
I consider it a mark of one's general humanity (humaneness, if you will) that a person is concerned or, at least, interested, about these things. We were all children once. Our children are the future of this planet and it is important that we adults are supportive of them.

most certainly not!!!!!!!!
we should care about what is happening to the children because they are our future. i can't believe that anyone can be so heartless as to say something like that!
i believe that having children does make you re-think your ideas and opinons about the world issues etc, but that is because it is our instinct to protect our children as much as we can.aswell as to teach them right from wrong etc...
i have always cared about what happens to the childrenn in this world but since having my own, my feelings are just strengthened because i need to look after my children and try and protect them....it also makes me feel more deeply for people who have experienced such tragedies with their children - i can empathise more now..
