Gemini and Leos?

I don't ever read about "signs" or anything like that. But this guy I've been talking to for a while,jokingly asked what my sign was, but I got curious and really wanted to know what would be up with our signs being together. I am a Gemini, and he is a Leo, would it work out?

I know that the most compatible pairing for a gemini is with a libra or aquarius. But as a gemini female I remember having the biggest crush on a Leo, and he was true Leo according to what they say. And from what developed in our relationship, I think that we like their independence and determination to be the best, or the lead or whatever.
