Well if you attend culinary/law/architect/buisness/computer etc. etc. school is it because you can't do anything else? I know you probably don't think that it's an important field to go into and really it isn't...but isn't finding a job that you love part of what ya know makes you happy in a way...it's really all about what floats your boat...I'm sure that those people have other tallents and can do many other things. That's just what they chose to do...their strong point there really isn't a market for it...Graphic design is in high demand but I think your refering to painting day in and day out as a means of making money. That's where the term 'starving artist' comes into play. It's less physical/emotionally draining than alot of other jobs.

I'm sure however, there are some people out there that feel that art is the only thing that they can do and that is why they attend art college (they may feel like it's the easy way out) and that the college can find out what they dislike and then mold their schedual out of that doing what I don't know depends on the person...either way they are going to school and most art schools make you take 'real classes' like English, Speach, Math and Science most of which probably aren't that difficult because that's not what the school is based upon. So in other words you could be right but you could be wrong...I only say that because most really good art schools have to see your work before your accepted...meaning awards you've won shows you've entered and a portfolio...I enjoyed art in high school heck practically throughout my entire life considered it for a while but I'm not the best so I chose a different feild...something that makes more money and I still enjoy doing. Just my opinion.

No, I don't think so. I think that it is a way to develop your talent. I have an aunt and a cousin who got degrees in art. Although, they both had a hard time finding jobs. I think you should do what you love.

I don't think having a great artistic talent is "nothing."
