France shoild have learnt that violence on the field gets you bad karma in the end.Ask England. What Zidane did was wrong noone should condone such madeness from him.be it he's the greatest player or wateva. He's a disgrace to himself, his team, his nation and his family. He deserved more thana a red card.

I suppose what Materazzi said was,'You're still not greater than Pele.'

I'd imagine it would have had to have been bad for Zidane to react in the way that he did. He showed his passion and comittment to winning the match in everything he did on the pitch and i cant remember another incident in the whole match! France denied second penalty Which looked worse than the one that was given I'd imagine it was racial as well although such a great player will probably never tell us. It was simply ashame.

Well, I honestly have no clue, but whatever he said, plus the fact that Materazzi had pulled on Zidane's shirt earlier on, led to that erm.. little head-butting incident.

I heard on the radio that Materazzi insulted Z's mother.

he must have said something really rude because Zidane has never done that to anyone on the field or even loss his temper live on TV, that Italian man has surely gotten away but i hope that FIFA investigate it. Italy may have won, but they did it by getting Zidane the French legend sent off (the key player)... they played dirty that's for sure

im guessin he probably was jus havin a go at how france had lost all its gd players (viera, henry, ribery, cisse from ages ago) and that all the pressure was on zizou now, and i bet he just cracked and attacked materazzi.. wot a sad way to end his career on a red card

i dont know, it must have been something quite personal to provoke such a response, maybe something to do with his algerian background. europeans can be racist towards north africans - although i would have thought more so the french, who used to call them pied noir, than italians

i think it was his frist impulse to do something and he controlled it then he thought what the h*ll i'm retiring anyway.

he probably said something racial about zidane. or it could be that zidane wanted the last match of his career to be in a red card

How about, 'I bet you my earnings for the next three years in Italian football you can't get sent off.'

What's three years' wages for a Serie C player??
