I dont care what anyone wants to say but Lara is the greatest cricketer to ever grace the face of the earth and his captaincy against India in both the one day and test series was phenomenal. Despite the critics and the complaints, Mr. Lara showed that the West Indies TEAM was a force to be reckoned with. And although he did not perform at his best, he showed that with a combined team effort and with proper motivation and dedication, the job can be done. Although he did make soe rather quizzical comments in the last test match in which he blamed the selectors and the ground staff, the previous games did attest to the fact that not only is he a great player but a great captain too!

Lara did a great with the resources he had. The selectors didn't pick and provide him with the best team though. They should have picked the spinner for the remainder of the series, that would surely have given the West Indies the edge. Lara was great in the captaincy in the ODI's though.

I would say yes. Keeping in view the bowling strength of W.Ind. Lara did well against India.

i believe its not LARA who did good job against INDIA , its actually team INDIA could not really resist the bowling attacks of WI and were seem playing with lack of confidence. As INDIA lost ODI's ti was necessery for the team india to come back in the test with a bang.

B Lara did not perform at his best against India.

I can say this because a captain should not feel that his resources are less and complain against even though board is not nice. As there are players (Fast Bowlers) , he asked about them. If they are injured, what can he do. So he should use his own resources.

Comming to batting, I am not impressed with his batting performance except in one test. He did not play at his best. He have low average against India only. One should appreciate his captaincy in the ODI's. But overall performance did not impress me.

Winning in ODI against INDIA, contribution of BRIAN LARA as a captain is remarkable.

I do believe so. He managed to mould the outfit that was looking shaky into one strong team to take on very good teams like that of India and win over them (remember they won the One Dayers 4-1 and lost test series only 0-1).

A captain's performance reflects on his team and it is very clearly visible in the team, from where to where they progressed.

Cheers
