Lo all, Right was reading the paper the other day and an article just lept out and said something to me it read "Church of England to scrap St George". Thier reason was because they didn't want to upset muslims due to its links to the Crusades. Now i'm not rasist or hate anyother countries but is it just me or have our goverment just gone insane? I mean this is england isn't it?

St George is supposed to be the patron Saint of England. England being part of the island of Great Britain. Great Britain consists of England, Wales (with it's own assembly) and Scotland with a Scottish parliament. The UK is Britain plus Northern Ireland. The church of England can say what it wants. No one cares. If people want to wave the flag of St George, the English flag, the one with the red cross on - that bad drivers display on their cars. Two flags for dangerous drivers. Then they will do so. The church has little power any more. President, Teflon Tone has most of the power - delegated supposedly by her Majesty the Queen of England. No not the Queen of the UK. The Queen of England. But she does reign over the UK and Commonwealth as well. Confused? This is England and despite the forced on us multi cultural-ism of the politically correct brigade we still like our traditions and eccentricities.

ok it fairly is almost 03.00hrs yet i will maximum suitable suited some off yours errors . particular St George has no longer something to do with England , our consumer St must be St Edmund or St Albuns . The St George element purely got here visiting with the Normans in 1066 . there's slightly greater to it than that besides the fact that it fairly is late and that i will't be troubled . St George wasn't Turkish , he grow to be a Roman soldier from the jap Roman Empire who grow to be performed because of the fact he grow to be a Christian . He lived in Asia minor . An are it particularly is now referred to as Turkey , on the time the Turks have been in imperative Asia , so he wasn't Turkish . St Nick is likewise informed to youngsters to be Turkish , yet lower back he lived in Asia Minor for the time of a matching era and grow to be in all probability ethnically Greek . Oh an by way of the way the Normans weren't French. we don't continuously agree on politics yet my background is sound , do no longer twist it , learn it .

Didn't see the report myself. I have to say, I'm a bit confused as to their reasoning, as St George had absolutely nothing to do with the Crusades.

Oh well - to be honest, I'd be very surprised if it actually happened. It's not really clear from your post whether it's the government or the Church of England who are planning to do this. If it's the CofE then it makes no difference, because St George has never exactly been a central part of faith; if it's the government, then I suspect whichever government did it would find itself out of office pretty darn quickly!

Britain has gone pc mad without regard for national identity or culture. This is a Christian country with the queen as defender of the faith. Why is she not defending, then?
If we went to the middle east then we would not be allowed to build churches as they would find them offensive.
Bullshit.
When is the British goverment going to stop tip toeing around these people and say enough to these double standards?
If the muslims don't like our way of life, let them return back to that dusty shithole they are so proud of.
When in Rome....

They might as well get rid of St Patrick, St David and St Andrew then, it is pure stupidity then what do you expect from government they are a bunch of comedians. Now that's an idea put a bunch of comedians in government like then everything would be OK. Joe Pasquale for Prime Minister.

No your right the church of England thinks and cares more for the Muslims than they do for their own, Just think of the our cry if we asked the Muslims to remove something because it up set us, no would never happen, all you would get is a car bomb, it's time for Muslims to go home if they don't like it here.

Muslims objects to anything against other faiths.
Only if they new that St George was one of them. St.George
was a foreign Saint to England. He came from CAPPADOCIA in Asia, he lived during Roman times. Church of England adopted a foreign Saint and yet Muslims hate him, after all he was same as jews and Muslim, an Asian.

As it happens all religions are from Asia non from Europe, Europeans didn't have their own God. Their Gods came from Asia. Christ was an ASIAN.

I honestly think that is MAD!

That's like Ireland scrapping St Patrick becasuse he was protestant! lol

He's the Patron Saint of Englan, isn't he - so why abandon him - he must have done somet wonderful enough to get there in the first place, so if he's dead, he can't have done anything bad enough to have it taken away - If that makes sense?? lol

The world has gone bonkers!
Cheers D*

The government has nothing to do with the CofE so don't go blaming them for decisions taken by the god botherers.

P.S. St George was from Turkey.
