Yes! So stupid. Had he stayed in the game, would have be another one to shoot the shooting out and France wouldn't have missed that one miss that cause them the title. He might have influence in another goal for the total victory as France was controlling the whole game but could get the shot in!! So Stupid.. Just a spit in the face back is suffuciently enough, may only earn him yellow card!

i do not care what Materazzi suggested, there is not any excuse for Zidane's behaviour. If Materazzi did or say something extremely out of line Zidane must have suggested so after the game in a press convention. Zidane's short mood no longer in ordinary words harm his personal photo, yet possibly value his crew, his teammates and his us of a the international Cup. back, there is not any excuse and Zidane truly deserved the pink Card. P.S. I thougt that Zidane became the participant of the adventure till the incident. i became cheering for France.

The fact is the referee based his decision on video evidence which is unfair. If the referee is allowed to do this then how about all the other dubious decisions that are made by the referees in the other matches.
Video evidence should be applied to all cases and not just zidanes headbutt on materazzi. This is double standard by FIFA!
If they do go by the books. Fact is the referee did not and the assistants did not see the headbutt, there should be no red card at all.
(of course, I am not saying that headbutt does not warrant a red card)

zidane is not a loser, no matter what we all say. he's done a great deal for the game and we all enjoyed his heydays as one of the greatest footballers of all time. let's be fair and give him that. what happened last night was certianly a lapse of judgment on his part but no one here knows what really happened in the exchange between him and materrazi so we can't ride our high horses and judge him. maybe there was great provocation there, we do not know. all we know is he reacted quite extremely for one known to generally keep his cool in the pitch. whatever transpired there is obviously between him, materrazi, and their conscience alone. i'm sure the french people to whom he is most accountable will judge him fairly - as a player who served his country well, as a human being as fallible as any other, and as a person probably with principles that are non-negotiable. we keep harping about footballers who think themselves above the rules. as fans, maybe it's time we show them what fair play is really all about.

Yes...it was very foolish of him to do such a scene just before his career ends. It is just unbelievable. I think he jsut disappointed all his fans. It is was not very plesant to see such a scene in the finale..i mean it shouldn't even happen in any other match, really unnecessary
