Persuasive essays or letters are essays/letters where you have some argument that you are trying to convince someone of. Like, say you're trying to persuade someone to believe that pigs can fly. You would write a persuasive essay or letter in order to do that. You're trying to sway the reader to your side of the argument, to agree with you.
