Despite the fact what Zidane did last night in the world cup final, does this mean we are to forget all of what he has brought to the beautifull game over the years and tarnish him with the villain brush?

it makes me a little sad to see these great football players denigrated in such a way...

Zidane was a master of football, and like all masters, to be that good, you need to have pure raw emotion and passion for the game.

All the greatest footballers have personal issues to deal with... some get violent, some turn to drink and drugs, and yes, all these issues and problems will be remembered... but only placed above their skill by the small minded bigots that prefer tabloid gossip to footballing ability...

Football is a game of aggresion, sometimes the passion to win leads players to go a bit over the top... get over it, it happens, it's part of the game, and always has been...

...If you don't enjoy seeing people pushing each other around then pick another sport to watch with less physical contact, and keep you mindless, uninformed and cowardly insults to yourself...

He will not be remembered as a villain because what happened last night is over and done with with! In my mind he will go down in foot ball history as the legend he was, the man who won the world cup for France once, could have last night and those who will only remember his red card may be a little forgetful about too many other players who could/should have been red carded long before he was! How many of them got away with it? Remember Figo? He got away with it and what about Carlos and so many of them? None of them can ever aspire to become as good as Zidane was.

Don't be silly, Zidane is Europes contribution to the trio of great players of all time. Pele, Maradona and Zidane. What he's achieved is unparallelled, world cup, 2 or 3 european cups, UEFA cups, league titles..... world player of the year awards, the guy is a legend. Last night, that was actually quite funny!

It is a personal choice. Zidane had some good moments in his carreer but generally he is just a ghetto thug who had never ground up and keeps the gangsta mentality even though he was given fame and money.
You may turn a blind eye and focus of his sport achievements or remember him for what he is it is, it's up to you.Yesterday the whole world saw who Zidane really is.
By the way he sucks big time as a player recently both in Real or in French team-if you aks me when he was suspended with Togo Frence plyd better.

Zidane you are a complete pathetic classless loser that has huge insecurity issues, what are you gonna fight everyone that says something to you lame ***, well get used to it because the worse is yet to come, I hope they spread the news as to what was said to you and so you can be reminded of how stupid you really are for losing a game for France i also I hope you can never walk the streets of France without getting french fries thrown at you, you are a disgrace to France fans

I think he messed it up for big time. He would have been remembered as a great soccer player, who was so great against the Brazilians, but now we might remember him as someone who banged his head into the opponent. What a shame.
But I think he was a professional and should have known the consequences of his actions. Anyways: I'm sorry for Zidane:(

it would be unfair to sy he is a villain like amny he has a short fused temper. people seem to forget it was zidane that kept france in the match against italy. zidane is not a villain just a man that was frustrated and could not control himself like a good footballer could.

No he shouldn't. He should be remembered as the maestro..

Look at the likes of Eric Cantona. What he did was far far worse...

ZZ was just fired up , it was the World Cup FINAL after all.

Anyway WELL DONE ITALY when all is said and done, people should be talking about the Italian team, The CHAMPS not the losers.

Zidane should be remember for its actions, for my it was a talent guy but a cynical player, as well as much of the french time, playing roof with the arms and elbows, arguing the referee decisions and playing theatre.
