this is a true statement, what he did last night was rediculous, although he was wound up a good sports man would have let it go and punished the other team by scoring not fighting, stuipid **** all the money he gets paid and he cant control his self, it is a shame really.

Since when was Zinedine Zidane in the gutter in the first place?
Just because he was brought up in a poor family on a housing project does not make him scum.
Just look at what the man has made of himself despite that disadvantaged background. Almost certainly one of the top 5 football players of all time.
I don't know what Marco Matterazzi said to him. I don't want to slander the man without knowing, but it is notable that...
a) Zidane has phenomenal control, is highly experienced and an is respected and admired throughout his profession not just for his skill but for his leadership and fair play.
b) Matterazzi is infamous in the Serie A for being a dirty player.
I suspect what Matterazzi said was seriously offensive and almost certainly racist. He had it coming, but Zidane shouldn't have given it to him. Unfortunately for once his self-control lapsed.

What Zidane done, was wrong. He is one of France's famous and most talented football players the world has every seen just like maradona is remembered for the had of god incident. Zidane will be remebered for the silly challenge in his last game, but lets not forget that both players are truly heros in the football world. People don't like to remember great things people have done, and sometimes can get unoticed altogether. I would shake Zidanes hand if I saw him in Newcastle! I think everyone else would too!

Phenomenal control??? What of, - his bowels - certainly not his temper.
Seriously, a 30+ year old pro footballer should really be able to keep his cool( until he can get away with it),. Materazzi might be only half the player Zidane was but he sure beats him in the intelligence stakes.
He should be remembered for the dirty player he really is - and the gutter he came from!!

I'm sorry, but i have to say that your terminology is disrespectful, rude, and small minded.
Though, I admit that it was wrong of Zidane to react the way he did, he is only human and everyone has their breaking point. The whole incident cannot be soley blamed on Zidane becuase you have to remember that he was provoked by Mazzerati.
Zidane has brought so much to football and shouldnt be remembered as the man who lost his cool and headbutted a member of da opposition, but as the man who has brought beauty, skill and grace to the beautiful game of football.

I think it's a crying shame he reduced himself to that level on his last International game. What a way to be remembered! Pleased Italy won though - if it wasn't going to be England, Italy is the only other country I would have wanted to win.
On top of that we're all of £25 better off as we won the office sweep!

The italian player took a direct stab at zindane by calling him a "dirty terrorist". Obviously he was told before hand which comment would trigger and set zindane off, and apparently taking a direct hit and blasphemizing his religious affiliation, worked like a charm. No one would throw such an important game on the line unless it really offended him. He worked so hard throughout the series, he apparently did care about winning, and it had an important significance for him as well as his country. So the italian player knew and was told exactly what to say in order to set zindane off and walk off with the cup...Seek and you shall find.. Now you know and you can decide for yourself how to judge this individual...

just because you didn't get out of the gutter don't hate those who did.... better to come out of a gutter and be a world class player then to be a spoiled rich kid that didn't achieve anything... ok ... now go find your way out of the gutter and stop asking stupid questions...

What you're saying is ridiculous. Everyone has a limit and Materazzi crossed Zidane's limit, so he got what he deserved.
