When I went out of state for a funeral a friend and her husband came and cleaned the whole house, did all the laundry, arranged the bath towels on the towel bars real decorative. They did not want me to do anything for them and said I could repay them by doing something nice for some else that needed it when ever I found some one in need.

When I fell, had to have surgery and now live with seizures on a daily basis, the company that i worked for did a raffle for me and raised $454.00, got all kinds of cards, friends from work brought me out a precious moments figurine, and my neighbors within a two mile radius (live in country), brought by dinner, and helped out with my children. The world is not a bad place...Most people do try to help when one of their friends are in dire straits.

My family has always been for me, but once a complete stranger helped me out of kindness. It was almost Christmas and it was already dark. I was driving with my 7 yr old son and two yr old daughter when suddenly in the middle of a very busy avenue my car stopped. The battery was dead.
the avenue was in a posh neighborhood near my parents home. People in Mercedes, BMW's, Jaguars and Volvo's would pass me by and go on ignoring me. My cell phone was also dead and I was alone with two crying children. Suddenly this battered car parked near me and a man came out. when I saw him my heart pounded with fright. he was covered in tattoos and had several piercings. he must have seen my reaction, and he told me: don't worry, I have kids of my own and I want to help you. he gave me his drivers license and his car keys to assure me that he was not going to harm me and he let me use his cell to call my dad. he fixed my car in a jiffy and I couldn't thank him enough. I also apologized for my stupid reaction when I first saw him. After he went away my son asked me if he was an angel. I asked him why and he told me that angels come when you need them most. So maybe in heaven there is an angel covered in tattoos and body piercings helping people.

when i had just gotten divorced and had no money for christmas. My ex was supposed to buy the kids their santa gift and by 9:00 christmas eve had not shown up. I told my brother in law i was going to have to let my kids know there was no Santa so they would'nt think they were "bad" and thats why they didnt get a gift from Santa. He went to Toys R Us and bought them both a bike. He stayed up most of the night putting them together. I didnt know till we woke up christmas morning.

In HS I ate milk and cheese curds for dinner then went out drinking a LOT of cheap wine. I wound up throwing up into the river and one of the very cutest senior men held me (sophomore) from falling into the water, then I needed to blow my nose and he couldn't find a kleenex and he (yuk!) had me blow into his hand! He washed up in the river, but still. That guy was a prince and I have always hoped his girlfriend appreciated him, I would have tried to steal him away from her in a minute if I had any indication that she wasn't good to him. God bless his sweet heart! I hope life has treated him well.

You know, I sat and thought about this question, and honestly couldn't think of a single time someone did something for me that, in the long run, didn't either throw it in my face or remind me how great they were for doing it. People freakin suck. What ever happened to doing something just because? Isn't that whats its all about?

I had to evacuate due to Katrina and we lost everything. There was this one lady where my Mom works that usually paid her tithes at church. Instead she sent me the money because she said God would want her to help out those in need. The lady is 97 years old. Now tell me, couldn't she have used that for herself? It made me cry.

I got into a really bad, scary situation, and my neighbor took me and my daughter in overnight. She and her family let us hide-out from my scary roommate and took us to the bus station the next morning so we could go back to my family. I had only known this neighbor for less than a week.
