if you are talking about STD in general then it means a sexually transmitted disease as in gonorrhea, klamidea their are lots of different types and you get it when haveing unprotected sex with people who have it. The signs and symptoms are really grose so im leaving it out.

one partner has an STD (sexually transmitted desease) and without proper protection, and sometimes with proper portection the other is at risk of getting this infection considering they are transmitted (sent from one person to another) through sexual intercorse and sometime any sexual act.

STD means sexually transmitted diseases - syphilis, gonorhea, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, etc.
STD stands for any kind of disease that you could get through having a sexual relation ( not only vaginal intercourse, but also felatio, anal sex, etc ) with someone who is infetcted.
