Because they have more laws that protect them against any abuse they might recieve from others. But, if for example somebody treats you like crap in South America you can beat the crap out of that person because back there they know that the conflict is between you and that person. Back here if you insult somebody on the streets he can't hit you back because you can call the police (so gay).

Because no one has to be nice to anyone anymore. Do you see people helping people? Do you see neighbors in the yard talking?
We have parents who have to work 2.5 jobs to keep up with the bills, the kids are home and alone, can't go to the park, no one there to watch them and mom is working so no conversations.
TV has replaced being social, why go out and make friends when you can turn on a TV and have everyones drama in your own living room and turn it off when you are tired of it.
Things that were supposed to save us time has cost us the family unity and the friendships and the time has been replaced with work instead of leisure, I think people are just plain fed up and so nothing is okay, I can and will be rude what are they going to do about it? Too bad, I loved the old days when kids were looked out by the neighborhood, the dog was never a problem, the waitresses actually wanted to assist you..you get the idea.

People don't seem to care as much as they once did. Sarcasm and cruelty is running rampant in all forms of media and entertainment. Respect for elders is non existent. Common decency and kindness towards other people seems to be slowly slipping away.
I'm a single dad to a 12 year old daughter, and I am very concerned.
Now tell us, everyone, what can we do about it?

Once upon a time, a man drove through a new town. He saw another man weeding in his garden. The first man came to a stop and walked over to the second man. The second man stopped his work and rested his elbow on top of his rake while removing his hat from the top of his head.
'Howdy," said the first man. "I was traveling through and was thinking of moving into this lovely town. Tell me, what are the people like who live here?"
The second man thought for a second and said, "What were they like where you came from?"
The first man said, "They were rude, and unfriendly."
"Well," replied the second man. "I think you're going to find people around here to be pretty much the same."

I think its all because prices for everything are going up and people are spending more time working than with their families, sleeping or going out to have a nice time. So they are cranky. Therefore they are not home to raise their children and the kids suffer by feeling deserted in a sense. So they act out.

The main reason is because parents don't teach manners any more. It is O.K. for kids to say "hu", "yea", not ask please, say thank-you, excuse me, sir or mam. They are being taught that the world revolves around them; soon they become the "boss" and the parents do as they are told. They have very little(if any)consequences to their behavior. Therefore when they enter the "real world" they do not know how to behave in a civil manner.
