It is true that the USA helped arm and train Afghanistan people in the war against Russia. The USA did this as ' The enemy of my enemy is my friend'. After the war the USA realised that a huge amount of the weapons they had provided to the Afghan people were unaccounted for. I'm not sure when, exactly, the Taliban emerged but it started out as a group of students who, presumably, wanted a religious society, the religion being Islam. At some point, the fanatics became the dominant drive of this group. Their main focus then was to create a very strict Islamic state which resulted in some very barbaric incidents.

The Taliban came from countries cuddling groups supporting Bin Laden like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and other Islamic States. They are against US imperialism and its allies that are anti-Islamic groups.
