It helps if your water is hard. If the water is not hard, then do not use it as often.

NO, Calgon is an expensive rip off. I live in a hard water area and it did not prevent me having to buy and install a new heating element. I have now bought an electronic '' in line'' water softner that is very cheap and easy to install and a darn sight cheaper than Calgon. Go to any good plumbers merchant for the water softner.

Not sure I have not tied and tested it for the simple reason being when I want to descale my kettle I use washing powder so I never did get the whole calgon thing if washing powder can remove the scale????

According to a friendly repair man, Calgon can form hard lumps in the machine.....he said he had to chip it out with a srewdriver. I use Washing Soda......superclean machine.

prob be cheaper to get a new machine every couple of years than to keep putting calgon tabs in. my machine is 3 years old...never used calgon. rip off!!

yes if you live in hardwater areas
i live in birmingham we are lucky we get our water from wales
it is not hardwater and we don't have 2 waste our money on calgon and all that crap
limescale what limescale!?

Any softener will help your washer last longer, since the water will be less aggressive.
