Materazzi is known for his behaviour. Of course whatever he said, Zidane should never do what he did. We must remember Zidane for his skills, history and good manners and NOT for that event only. Players are humans, not robots. Materazzi should be punished the same way. You can't just say anything you want.

I am not sure what the Italian player said, but he did receive a red card in the World Cup against Australia. I thought he should have received a yellow, but he has that mark against him. I am sure Italians are not happy with that player if he said bad things against Zidane who they respect. Anyway, I believe he was impeding Zidane's movements and Zidane was exhausted and then to be called something I guess just set him off. He still should have restrained himself.

It seems that Materazzi challenged Zidane with some very rough talk, causing the head-butt, but neither Lippi nor Domenech could find out after the game what the Italian player said, either from him or from Zizou.

When it happened I kne it was ared card for sure....whatever Matterazzi said to Zizou is irrelevant because such a great player should know how to control himself. Though it is said that Zizou has reacted like that in other games before.
As far as I know.....they believe Matterazzi said one of two things he either called Zidane "TERRORIST" or called Zidane's Sister "PROSTITUTE".... those are the two believes iI've read so far. It would have been better if Zidane punched him after the game or outside but head butting him during the game was NOT the smartets idea.

He did? All i saw was materazzi blocking him and kinda not letting him move forward and i figured that zidane just lost it.
What ever the case was, the whole head butting this was just ridiculous and totally uncalled for. What a way for a soccer legend to go out.
With that said though, congrats to Italy for winning the cup and to both sides for an excellent game. i was on the edge of my seat half the time. an excellent end to a wonderful game.

Hello Friends,
well, as a former soccer player, I have experienced about that situation in the past. Therefore, I would assume that the Italian player would say something like insulted words such as name calling....etc...!!!
Overall, all of those words would tick off a soccer player.
