I don't know where you came up with this assertion, but it's simply not the case. You may have misinterpreted one of the common themes in our arguments, which is that society and humankind as a whole suffer and are victims due to religion and faith.

i'm not really sure about being 'a victim' of religious people, but have u ever been in the vicinity of a person saying they r an atheist in a public crowd? i was once an atheist and when asked about it, i answered honestly.

it was then usually followed by several people telling me i was going straight to hell, and asking how i could not believe in the word of god because the bible is truth and all that. those people were usually quite adament about convincing me that god is the only way to salvation. i often felt like i was being attacked and even persecuted, simply because i had a different belief from those people, and it was always quite ironic that the bible teaches not to persecute people, yet it was happening to me by christians.

I think you have it wrong. What atheists are usually saying is "church-goers are victims of an obsolete, divisive, religious order." They believe that "faith in God and the church" is not only irrational, it can be the underlying cause for many conflicts.

By speaking out, they're trying to eliminate the ignorance in our world.

Some religious people try to force their views on others claiming that their religion requires them to witness to non-believers.

probably because religious people constantly hound them with the so called "truth". many religious people are respectable folks, many use it as a fake advertisement, allthewhile still sinning probably more than most atheists. it's sad some people squander their lives on magic, fairy tales, and folklore such as religion..

Because they are. Most "religious" people can not accept the fact that atheists choose to not believe in their "God", and start preaching to them whether they want to hear it or not. Then if you tell them that your not intrested, they still won't shut up!

Never heard anyone say that. Some people resent other who try to enforce their own beliefs on them, but "victims"? never heard that.

because they must justifie their own view by denoucing anothers
if they dont believe in god then why does it bother them if someone else see's things differently, does it hurt them to know others pray... not if they truely dont believe in god.. but they have dought to their own convictions and must distroy any thing that might be proof of their error.....................and today everyones a victim and demands conpensation for it.

The less someone believes, the more there is to worry about.
Believe in something- or fall for anything.

Because its like communist fighting democrats or republicans fighting democrats. Religion is like politics everybody wants you to like their view and if you don't they call you names and throw a tantrum. That's why I don't like politics or religion that much. Too much fighting.
