I don't understand why, only in the FINAL, the referee used video to give out the red card? Figo did the same, the world saw the video 'live' but he wasn't punished?
France played very well in the second half and they lost because they were unlucky.

well, one of the assistant ref's said that they saw it... but i think plays like that shouldnt be showed on screen until after the ref makes his call....

Actually no. I thought the same thing at first, but the video had nothing to do with it.
What REALLY happened is the linesman referee actually SAW it take place. The main ref was required to ask the linesman about it, and he confirmed it.
They can't give a red card out if they didn't see what happened live. But one of them did. They consulted, and the main ref immediately went over and gave a red card to Zidane.

I believe you are misunderstanding what actually happened. One of the officials saw the entire saga that happened between the two players and the field official went to him for answers. You probably noticed the wires that were taped to the officials faces during the matches...well he was able to walk over to the official that actually saw the headbutt and that is why the red card was issued. because it is the final. it is the most important game. i mean, they even had a partly gold ball!!
Yes, i think it is unfair too, but it cant be changed. I was wondering too how he suddenly found out, and gave the red card. No other ref saw it, not even most ppl in the crowd. and the ref doesnt know what led zidane to do it. he probs thinks it was just an act of random violence. but materazzi said soemthing to him (in italian, which they both speak fluent), and that is what made him click, zidane who normally a quite cool head. i dont know what he said, but it must have been really insulting.

don't forget that France was playing against Italy. and italy has a lot of supporters in the referee's commity in fifa. they never commit to fairplay. they didn't deserve the cup.

refree didnt use the video! infact the incident wasnt shown on the giant screen! its not allowed in the game to show provocative images on the giant screen! that is the reason all the fans were boowing! the linesman told the refree wat had happened!
