another what? we have kept on keeping on through famine, plague, war and so on for thousands of years, the only other choice is to lay down and die, and our animal side wont allow that to happen.

Your question is depending on the concept the international faces political, social and environmental chaos at traditionally astounding degrees. I contend the international isn't any worse off today than in previous centuries hence the human race will likely keep up properly into the destiny as we learn a thanks to evolve to "evolving chaos".

It's not really in chaos though, that implies there is absolutely no order which would lead to anarchy. Most countries have governments that govern politics & the environment. Not sure what you means about socially in chaos; because some have more than others? That's not chaos, it's survival of the fittest.

With advances in physics we learn more and more about the universe of better perhaps said the multiple "dimensions" of existence.
With the concept of the energey nevery being created or destroyes but simply transefered, perhaps it is the very Chaos in some dimensions that is the source of energy that sustains others that keep "all" of our existences in ballance. As one dimension moves toward harmony, others may move toward Chaos, which must occur. hence its a "energy" cycle, with a TBD frequency, perhaps the World Wars and upheavls will be a clue to that cycle and further advances in "string theory" will help us not so much sovle this question, but understand its "solution" which already exist.
The solution is perhaps a better understand of "energy" and its dimensional influences, and dimesional chaos wave cycles

to improve the world politically we need for all countries to conform to the UN. unfortunately no country including the US wants to conform to the UN completely. Environmentally we can help by stopping the use of gasoline engines. Gas prices are too high anyway. America should have an electric railway system like other countries. This eliminates the need for cars and gas but would significantly drain the economy.

What if you didn't think the world was in chaos, but instead it's a movie, and everything will wrap up in the end?

In a system made up of quantities of matter, its pressure differences, density differences, and temperature differences all tend to equalize over time.
