Just learn how to listen to them, although this is very difficult to do, especially when a customer is too annoying to handle. But then, listening is your best key. You have to really exert a lot of patience and be able to deal with every customer's problem professionally. If you really find your customer at fault, then be able to explain things to him, but do not point out directly that he is wrong. Just stay prudent and calm.

With a smile on your face. Always sympathize with a difficult customer and make them feel like you are on their side. Do what you can within reason, and if they deman too much, let your boss handle them.

Tell them whatever they want to hear, short of, "You can have all our money." If you're hostile, it'll make them even more hostile. Your motive is to get them to want to leave ASAP. The less time you have to spend around a person like that, the better.
If you're dealing with people on the phone, just pass it off to the manager.
