The original term "pwn" was a mis-type of the word "own". It's mostly used in online games and indicates a victory of some sort, ie "I just totally pwned that endboss". As with any popular catchphrase, it's variants are endless-- "Pwnz", "pwnzorz" and many others.

To kick a**. Where'd it come from? It's my understanding that it's a corruption of 'own', which means, in slang, to completely dominate.

well usually people who play online videogames use that word.... usuallly it means owns... people like to put a P instead of an O, i guess for a dramatic effect lol
like if one guy killed a monster in a game really fast he would say "I pwned (owned) that monster"

"pwn" is short for "pawn". Which literally means to exchange for something of value in cash. In gaming, it is usually known as "pwnz" or "pawnz" for past tense. It usually refers to a victory over an opponent that benefits the player or team in a player versus player environment. Eg, " I pawned that newbie at chess" Originated from the game DotA which has the computer automatically saying "Player ***** has pawned player ***** for X gold " Has grown widely in usage in other online games as well as in real life. "I pooned the guy who cut my queue at the supermart by throwing packets of condoms in his basket without his knowledge" or " I got pawned by that conman" Also used to signify complete dominance over something or someone, " THAT HOTDOG REALLY PWNZ ALL OTHER DOGS" or "Exams pawned his ***, now he has to go back during summer holidays for remedials." Some other words you might want to know that are usually used in conjunction with "pwn" is the word " noob" which stands for newbie or new comer in short, also used to describe incompetent players. "OWNAGE" is also used commonly to describe overwhelming victory over another opponent. " MAN THOSE HOTDOGS OWN" "I think Angelina's lips are pure ownage" Hope this helps, if anything, you can ask further!
