I have an overnight layover in Gatwick. Will the airlines pay for the Hotel room? If not what would be the cheapest hotel in the area?

I doubt that the airlines will pay for a hotel room for you, unless it is included in the price of a ticket. you are looking at around 100 pounds a night for a hotel in the Gatwick area which is close enough to get to the airport.
