Also, I'd like to say that this Italian team might not have had the "superstars" but they worked amazingly well as a team all throughout the tournament. 10 different players scored. Not "superstars" (well, now they are) but certainly a bunch of talented players who could make a difference any time. A wonderful defense, a wonderful, humble captain, a wonderful goalie.
So, yes, they were worth what they got.

Their defence was very good and that won them the championship. Their attack wasn't all that prolific with the top scorer achieving two goals.They had slices of luck against France in the final and Australia in the Group of 16 but that happens in championships. It is whether you can take advantage of that luck that is essential and Italy did. They responded well to pressure in the penalty shootouts. Congratulations Italy.

nah.i think if zhidan didnt f**k up france could have probably won.he is one of the best free/penalty kickers in the world.HE COULDNT HAVE GOTTEN A PENALTY KICK FOR FRANCE IN THE PENALTY SHOOT OUT
