Well, it makes me mad when I turn to the "Travel Channel" and I see poker playing. I want to see the world, and yet I'm watching fat guys gamble. That annoys me, but yeah they are overrated, how many tournaments can you have?

I think if you looked very closely, you would probably find a correlation between the gambling shows, the networks they are on, and the gambling establishment that either the networks or the production companies either own or have investments in. To me, they are absolutely boring but someone must be watching them because they are all over the channels. I know that recent research has pointed to them being watched pretty extensively by young men, particularly college-aged young men. Specifically the poker shows. That baffles me, because even college guys do not have that kind of attention span. The college guys I know are into video games and high action movies and watching cards tossed around a table just do not really seem to be in the same sphere. Yet, we have hundreds of channels and we are watching the same twenty shows over and over again. Problem is that even when you miss one gambling show, do not worry, it will be re-run into the ground. Just like everything else. And that is part of the problem. We are seeing the same few gambling shows over and over again.

I agree!!! But when I run in to one of those shows it reminds me to get off the sofa and find something constructive to do! ;)

They were cool until I saw a dominoes tournament on ESPN (seriously!), then I realized how overboard it's gone!
