If you haven't read Twilight by Stephenie Meyer...I recommend it..even though it isn't your traditional romance.

That being said...
Gone With The Wind
Pride & Prejudice

Sarah Dessen's YA books almost always feature a romance of some sort. And she's a great writer...

Nicholas Sparks has some good books if you're not afraid of emotional roller coasters....many are tearjerkers....

If you're looking for romance novels--the genre--which is often teased because of the formulaic writing...

my favorites are Julia Quinn and Stephanie Laurens. Julia Quinn has an 8 book series on the Bridgerton family....they are great reads...set in the Regency period (1812-1828ish--I'm giving dates for her books not the Regency period in general!)

Try L.M. Montgomery or Ann Rinaldi for some historical plots with romantic flavoring.

If you read adult fiction, you might also like Pearl S. Buck or Anya Seton.

These writers aren't "romance authors" per se, but they write good books in which love and adventure usually play important roles.

Go to any book store, or Rite Aid. Look. pick, buy, read. But you know, it's all garbage. Why not read "Candide" by Voltaire instead or "The River Midnight" by Nattal.

I advise you to read "Gone with the wind", by Margaret Mitchell, a classical one, indeed. But, for this summer, if you go to the seaside, it will be great!
