Who does it help? Why do Asians not need it? Why do Asians excel without it, and should that be a lesson as to what works and what does not? If we don't have affirmative action, the University of Berkeley Campus would comprise of 75% student body made up of Asians. So in affect, affirmative action is a drag on the Asian population. Get rid of it, and Whitie will be the minority for a change, suck on that one!!

My ancestors came from Germany in the 1700s and worked essentially the same as slaves, though they were paid (poorly) sometimes, and were treated poorly at best. I demand retribution for what my ancestors went through. You don't see it happening, though, do you?

And hate to tell you, but in some parts of the company (like my hometown of Allentown, PA), whites are already the minority.

And just so you know, not all white people are evil. Thank you for being so stereotypical and racist. I'm sure your race, whatever it may be, appreciates the step back that you've taken for them.

affirmative action is wrong, but unfortunately i don't share the wonderfully RACIST VIEWS which the AUTHOR OF THIS QUESTION possesses. It's wonderful that University of Berkeley Campus would be 75% asians - as long as every individual one is qualified, which i would not doubt they were. It is a sad day when finally I believed that racist feelings in this country were gone to find that those who were once the butt of discrimination are now those that discriminate. You are a sad and pathetic excuse for a college student, i will say, if you are being educated with such disgusting preexisting views that asians are better than white, black, or hispanic students in the United States of America. It is people like you that make this world a horrible place, and if you were before me right now i would spit in your face for every single hard working black, white, hispanic, and ASIAN that worked his or her way to the top. For all freedom loving and respectful people in this country.

Affirmative action in America is Federally supported racial discrimination; a glaring double-standard from a social system that vocally denounces ANY form of discrimination.

It's frightening sweeping acceptance in the 80's was nothing short of frightening. However, the game rules have again changed....and the affirmative action machine is being shut down.

I happened on a news story from New Orleans, Louisiana--where their District Attorney, Eddie Jordan ( "Africian-American" ) upon taking office, fired dozens of white DA office staff, which he replaced with "African-American" office staff.

Jordan was taken to Civil Court, where the judge ruled what he did was unconstitutional; Jordan now has to pay out close to $4 million--and the judge isn't impressed with woes of "But judge....I don't have the money!!" Although Jordan has appeals rights: it's sharply unlikely he'll be given a reversal judgement and wriggle out of what he did outright.

This case sends a shockwave message that affirmative action is no longer being tolerated.....and the empowered will be wise to listen to the message or be ready to pay up!!!

I believe affirmative action is doubly racist. In the first place it places prejudices for one group over another group based entirely on skin color. This is the very definition of racism. In the second place it hinders those it is supposed to help. When a black man graduates college the human resource people at the companies they would apply with will have to assume that the black individual is less qualified to do the job based on merit because the black was helped along in their qualifying for the school's enrollment requirements. To me, lowering standards for somebody based on their racial handicap is the highest form of condescension to that race. Like being patted on the head and allowed to say or do something that is not accepted from anyone else. Asians are more successful in school because greater expectations are placed on Asians by their own families, peer groups and society at large. Blacks are not incapable or handicapped except by the fact they are not expected to do well by their own support group., ie., family, peer groups, and local society, and especially by their political party. What leader has the Democratic National party placed at the top or in the most powerful positions in politics. The answer is none. Compare that fact to the positions held by blacks in the Republican party. Condi, Powell, etc., Barak Obama is the one exception, and if I'm not mistaken, he was elected by the people and not appointed by the Dems.

Getting jobs, accepted to colleges or whatever should be performanced based. Why should we accomadte people becasue of the color of their skin or "ethinicity"? NO, I do not believe on affirmative action, especially when white people are becoming the minority in most American cities now. Not only does this effect society as a whole but, more importantly sevices are dwindled to incopentent people running them. think about emergency servies... who do you want as fire fighters, police men and EMT/ paramedics? Those that got the job becaue they are good at what they do or those that got the job becasue they were black, asian or whatever???

no, it doesn't work.....and I would have to agree...California has been taken over by the Chinese and Japs. I went there a few years ago and thought I was in China, which would explain the attitudes and the sheer ignorance of the state. If you want "whities" to be the minority, why not go back to your mother ship??? Why are you so bent on ruining America????? Berkely is one of the most liberal campuses in the US, I'd be embarrased to say I went there!

Affirmative action is retarded, and whitey is a racist comment. What? You can't be racist to whitey? (I'm just kidding, but you get my point. About the racist comment thing, not affirmative action. I really do think affrimative action is retarded.)
