A friend told me this and I was curious if it was true or not.

No. gymnastics themselves are a healthy activity. *Some* young women who get into gymnastics competitively enage in unhealthy behavior like restricting their food intake to make their bodies smaller and this leads to them being unhealthy and not growing but the sport in itself isn't unhealthy, just some people's attitudes toward it.

I took gymnastics throughout childhood and mine grew to FF. Definitely not true!

I dated a serious gymnast in high school. She had the biggest rack of anyone I have ever dated.

i would like to respond to the answer above me....not all gymnasts are short...im 5'9...and not all of them are young looking! someone thought i was 8 years older than i am!

yes, it's true. gymnasts put so much energy into their sport that they don't develop as much. this also explains why they're all so short and young looking.
