i am moving there for school in september and looking for a place to live. just trying to sort out fact from fiction

The rest is northern Tijuana.

Try www.apartmentguide.com. Very high rents here. Check on campus for housing, possibly a roomate. Great Beaches, Great Clubs, Crime, Gangs we got it all lol.

west L.A. is definitely better than east L.A. if you're going to UCLA or USC, you shouldn't worry about it too much. Aside from the traffic and pollution, L.A. isn't a bad place to live.

Save up your money. Depending on where you're going to school, you also don't want to have to rely on public transportation. Be patient.

Well, I have been there once...last week. It was sooo crowded, but some neighborhoods were beautiful and secluded enough.

crowded and VERY overpriced, great place to visit but not a great place to live....
