Definately. Music is a very personal thing, and people are bound to have different tastes. I have a friend who will listen to almost any music and enjoy it, and another who listens to maybe 10 bands total. The craziest part, is that not only are we good friends, we play in a band together.

It's ok to have differences in music between friends. All my friends at school love rap but I hate it. My very best friend likes Usher and I like Avril. The whole point of friends is to have differences - it allows you to learn about different things in the world that could be exciting.

Of course it's okay! It's not a real friendship if it falls apart because of something so trivial as taste in music. My favorite music is showtunes, and all of my friends love death metal (which I loathe), but we're still good friends. You just kind of either avoid talking about music or you take turns talking about your kind of music and the other listens. It's called compromise.
If you have a friend who's being retarded because you don't like their music/they don't like yours.... then drop them.

Yeah it is okay. It's not like you have to like only what your friends like, if you did you really wouldn't be you. The differences in you two help make your friendship so interesting, long live the differences!

Variety is the spice of life. If we all liked the same things the world would be a boring place. If someone is not your friend because they don't like your music, then they were'nt much of a friend to begin with.

You're not friends with them because they're YOU. You're friends with them because they're THEM. Of course you're not exactly the same. You'll find other ways in which you're different, too.

I listen to everything, and my friend is more "Top 40". I wouldn't want my friends to have all the same intrests as me....boring.
