I took DepoProvera for about a year. I never had clots or heavy bleeding. The whole point is that you're not supposed to bleed. If you ARE in fact having those problems, I would call your Dr, first thing in the AM, that is NOT supposed to happen. My worst problems with Depo were massive weight gain, and vaginal dryness, as resulting sensitivity.
Clots and bleeding should not happen. There are other options for birth control: Nuva Ring is great, if you don't want to have to worry about pills. If you're taking Depo for a medical reason that you shouldn't be menstruating at all for a certain period of time, you could ask your Dr about Lupron... but don't use it as a contraceptive, just because injection is easier than a ring, patch or pill.

Yes, I had problems like this during the first few months of taking Depo. After two months or so, I stopped bleeding heavily. I would still spot on and off. The main problem is that I gained 30 pounds in those two months. I would recommend another form of birth control. This one is SO bad and has caused so many problems that they're considering taking it off the market. There are SO many options out there - consider another one!
