After all its not fair to throw the whole team's hard work and effert for a month or for the last four years down the drain because of a missed penalty. What we are doing here is punishing the whole team because of one mistake... It is just not fair.

yes, the Final world Cup match shouldnt be decided by Penalty. I was rooting for France but even if they had won I dont think it should result to Penalty shootout

The only problem with this though, is that what if the rematch ended in a draw? Each game has to be settled on the day of the match - a tournament can't be prolonged indefinitely just because of a draw. Also remember, it is called the world cup FINAL for a reason!

Penalty kicks may not be the best solution to ending a tie, but a rematch would be even more unfair to the players as it forces them to play an entire new game, and completely discounts all the hard work they did in the last game.

I believe the question was really about taking another day and having a rematch. Not to continue the game until someone scores or until the players are falling over in exhaustion. It would be far too difficult to sell tickets for one, secondly, what would you do with the cards accumulated during the first match that ended in a draw? Would Zidane be allowed back on the pitch? Would the cards carry over to the following match? There will always be rematches just not in the World Cup Format. These two teams will meet again sometime. Lets hope its later than sooner!

this was the case before the penalty shootouts were discovered. but that caused wasting another day and thats why penalty shootouts were brought instead of the rematch. I am a French supporter and thought that in the whole 120 minutes French were better and would have won but for Gianluiggi Buffon. Yeah and it was France who deserved to win but luck decided the other way.

i don't think the way you think after all penalty kick is the basic thing and the world champions should know how to take it

The logistics of putting on a rematch would be impossible.
Where would it be held? Stadiums are often rented - concerts?
What about the players - need at least 2 days rest + more $
What about tickets - distribution, prices.
What about hotels - they are already booked.
What about TV - programs are already planned; and if not,
What about the advertisers - where will they come from.
There are numerous other matters to take into consideration.,

No. This is the game, this is the time where they need to step up. These are the rules that everyone has agreed to. Fair is fair and you can't complain about changing the rules now that you've lost.

I agree that it's kinda of a cheap way out of a game, BUT, these are the rules, and they applied to all the teams.

Penalty kick is so easy and fundamental, whoever missed it does not deserve to be the champion.

what if they still cant manage to score 1 goal after 6 hours? the players would collapse of exhaustion and the spectators would be restless
