Apparently the deal would be that all credit or non-cash transactions would be exact "to the penny" in value, and all cash transactions would be rounded to the nearest five or ten cents.

I think the U.S. should keep the penny without a doubt! Cents is cents...pennies do add up! I don't believe that the rounding up to the nearest 5 or 10 would be a good idea at all.

I'm a hardcore penny saver for sure! If I see one on the ground, it doesn't matter to me if it is face up or down, I'm gonna pick it up and put it in my pocket till I reach home and put it in my big fat piggy bank! Then, when she's full, I'll take all that money to the bank...it really does add up! At one point I had $70 saved up in pennies. They really help out when I'm in a financial bind.

I think they should just scrap it. Pennies probably end up lost more likely, and people just don't really want to carry it around anymore. Heck, I just throw all my pennies into a jar, then forget about it, cause it's not worth that much, and for the most part, isn't worth keeping around.

On the other hand, people need to find treasure, whether its hidden away in the park, or the couch cushion hehe.

Keep it. Congress will never get rid of the Penny while the current Speaker of the House is from Illinois, The Land of Lincoln. (The penny has Lincoln on it.)

When the dollar collapses, you will be thankful that there are real copper pennies in circulation to melt down and sell for food. Right now it costs more than a penny to make each penny. That's how worthless our currency is.
