I don't react at all. While I always was very discreet, this is a different time and since free sex is rampant, many people have no modesty whatsoever and this is not limited to just nursing mothers.
And that being said, I am always amazed that people who think nothing of having sex with multiple partners are so incensed over a woman breastfeeding in public. What IS the big deal? It isn't like you haven't played with or seen breasts before. Is it jealousy that the baby is getting what you aren't?

What is wrong with feeding your child (in public)? We ALL know what breast and nipples look like! Men are shown on t.v. and in advertisements with out shirts everywhere and all the time. And let's not say it has to do with the mass. Some of the men shown are not shape and have extra mass. So then the root of the problem is more than likely society is male driven and if it isn't to a man's pleasure we must hide. Now imagine some man with a breast in his mouth. Guys would be hooting and hollering. Men (society) care more about porn than feeding little babies.

I personally don't think any effort should be made to hide them and frankly since a man can walk down the street without a shirt on why shouldn't a woman be able to feed a baby without acting like she's committing a sin!?!?

I always tried to be discret but I know there were a few times ppl got a good look...It is completely natural. I wouldn't care if my teenager or husband saw. They have both seen me breast feed and know that is the natural purpose of the breast. To all you ppl who wouldn't want your kids to see...why don't you view it as a learning experience? Why would it cause akward questions? That momma is feeding her baby is the answer. It is a shame this topic is even debated much less getting negative and smart @ss responses!

To her it must have been very natural and she must have been very comfortable, but in public we must consider others.
If a woman is trying to be discreet, (which you didn't describe) it would be acceptable to breastfeed publicly. And if you were a woman, perhaps you would feel comfortable talking to her about it first.
I certainly don't have a problem with it in general, but I don't want my husband or 15 year old son to have to watch an indiscreet woman flop it out and try to get suction going. Besides, if the mother is full of milk, can't those things go off and start spraying out everywhere? LOL

It's a natural thing, but I think that some could have a little courtesey to others around htem and cover up or wait a bit to find a more secluded place

It's only natural, baby is hungry and mamma has to feed baby. I don't "react" any differently than if mamma was giving baby it's bottle. If breast feeding is causing you concern, don't look. Turn away and give mamma some space, even if there is no privacy.

i don't react. i do think they should cover up (that's what baby blankets are for) i don't get worked up when they don't, the kid has to eat. besides, if the mother is talented, she can breast feed without covering and still not show anything. i worry more about bratty kids running around screaming than i do breast feeding mothers.

Well if the ladies are not polite enough to cover themselves then I would just walk up and ask if the othe nipple was free that I was slightly parched myself and in need of some fresh beverage.
