Yes. The winning team only wins custody of the trophy for four years. They do however get a gold plated replica to keep. (the actual trophy is solid gold).
I'm not aware of the 4 wins rule that Ben mentions - I know Brazil were allowed to keep the Jules Rimmet trophy (the old prize for winning the world cup) after their 3rd win in 1970 - it was however stolen, & never recovered.

Yes its the same cup...
It will be passed on until all the spaces at the bottom of the cup will be filled up with the winners of the world cup.

this is current world cup trophy given to the winning team since 1974, when BRAZIL won the Jules Rimet trophy for the third time in 1970, they get to keep the trophy permanently.
the current world cup will be used until 2038 FIFA World Cup finals when all names of the previous winners from 1974-2038 are listed at the bottom of the trophy!!

no, it is the same cup given to Italy. But if a team wins for 4th time, they keep it forever. If France won, they would keep it for 4 years then return it. now since Italy has won the cup 4 times, they are going to make a new one, this happened with Brazil too cuz they have won 5 times.

After Brazil got to keep the Jules Rimet Trophy in 1970, FIFA commissioned a new trophy to be made (current one). Winning teams get a replica of the trophy to keep, but no one gets to keep it no matter how many WC's they win.
