It has been the greatest joy and accomplishment of my life!

It's strange to think that you can love something more than you love your own life or your partner or anything else for that matter. Now your child comes first before anything else, and instictively they are the first thing you think about every morning & the last thing you think about every night. I wasn't sure I was ready to have a baby when it first happened, but I knew I was responsible enough and now I would not go back & change it for ANYthing even if I could. My son gives me something to look forward to for the rest of my life & something to look back on as well. It's sad to think that your baby will never be 3 months old again, or 4 months old again, or he will never try that first bite of food again or laugh that first time. But you also get the joy of knowing what's to come like he'll ride his bike for the first time or play baseball. And all you want is that your child grows up happy & healthy & has a life where he is grateful for all that he has. And maybe, just maybe, he will have that joy of a child & feel the same things you felt for him for that baby also. Babies are great *sigh* *sniffle*

But having a baby is also VERY hard LOL The way I made it sound up there was like it was bliss, it is not always like that. It's true that you get no sleep except when the baby sleeps & even then you may lay awake worrying about that baby or planning the next day with the baby. Money is a big issue also, you worry that you won't be able to get the best for your child, but you put them first & get everything they need & then spend what's left on what you need. Safety is another thing you worry about. Not knowing whether it's ok to let the baby play in the grass, or to let the baby pet the doggy, or to even let the baby try new foods. They are a constant state of worry LOL

For me personally, I became a mom while I was still a Senior. I married by husband right before the birth. I was the only married Senior in my class. I had to emotionally deal with my pregnancy, school, and my husband gone to Basic training . For my Senior Prom, my husband drove up to go with me and his parents babysat for us.I spent my Spring Break in my house, 7 hours away from home, playing wife for a week. After Break was over, I had to leave my husband and house to go back and finish school. I graduated with a 4 month old baby. I have since had 2 more kids, lived in 2 states and 1 other country. Had so many ups and downs ts crazy. Lived in 7 houses in 9 years. Still never gone and done collegec yet. Before the baby I was planning a good school and a big salary position. Instead I'm a SAHM. So life is different than I planned, but different isn't always bad. I love my family. I think it all turned out really well. And I can honestly now say, I'd not change it for anything!

Wow.... the ways are just limitless. The biggest thing is that you have to rearrange your priorities. You, your friends, your husband/boyfriend are all now a distant second to a nine pound bundle of lungs.

What's best for the kid supersedes everything else...... I don't care if your best friend is having the biggest party ever known to mankind.. you aren't going unless you find a GOOD sitter... and even then at the last minute the baby might get colicky.. and guess who is staying home?

You stop being the center of your own world. That baby is born and becomes the Sun... the center of your universe and everything else just kind of drifts around it.

You will never have more to lose or gain. And that changes pretty much everything.

You no longer think of yourself in the same way...you now have a child that is more important than anything. That was the biggest change for me. Some just take it on and are fine but some feel a loss of freedom. I felt and still kind of feel the loss of freedom, but my son has been a beautiful change in my life also.

You just can't compare anything to the feelings of holding that baby in your arms for the first time, hearing the word "ma-ma" and you will just melt the first time he or she tells you they love you...they mean it. Being a parent and especially a mother is just amazing (I don't recommend it to the young).

Having a baby made my depression just melt away! I used to have really bad depression before I found out that I was pregnant. Now that I have this beautiful little girl in my life, I couldn't ask for more. I know that probably sounds corny but she has made my life worth something! She is my world!

A baby cannot do things for themselves and rely on us for assistance and guidance, from the moment a baby is born they are begining the learning process, what we go through they in some way know even if they don't understand what is going on. My sister can vouch for this fact. Yes there are late nights, early mornings and lack of anything that resembles sleep but as I mentioned, they cannot care for themselves.

Sure they are a joy but thats just for a few minutes of the day. They cry for anything and everything. They need lots of attention. Of course you have to feed them and bathe them. They need clothes and assories, so thats were that paycheck goes. They need a place to sleep. But at the end of the day, you love them and you can't wait to see how they grow up and go off to college and be successful.

1st of all your stuck with them 24/7. You have to get up when they get up. While new borns they wake up every 3 hrs so they can eat. You can't leave them alone for a second because they might hurt themselves. It puts strain on your money situation. Also you get no life, mostly if one parent gets stuck with the baby.
But watching them grow up is a great joy.

You will be broke, you will have no time. Babies are a lot of HARD work. Sure there are joys but you have to be mentally prepared for the other stuff. Feedings every 3-4hrs...teething, colic, birth defects, diapers, tantrums, etc.

Having children changed my whole existance. Now i'm responsible for another human being. Every decision I make is based on that fact. I never knew it was possible to love anyone so much.
