He could not have imagined our culture. I think he would be disappointed with the lack of responsibility we take as people of this country. The founding fathers gave us the framework and opportunity to live in a nation marked by freedom, personal rights and unlimited opportunity. We have, to a great degree, denegrated the freedom with selfishness and immorality. I think the founding fathers envisioned or hoped for greater care of what we have been given - we really have abused it in many ways.
But, we also continue to have strong government at state and federal levels, and are largely the example of economic leadership and foreign aid to the world.
I think that many Americans take what they have for granted, when it meant so much to leaders like Washington.
Terrific question!

I think they would be very disappointed that the freedoms they fought so hard for, are gradually being taken away. They also knew the Constitution would never hold up under a tyrannical president (like Bush), so therefore the Bill of Rights was put into place to protect Americans from such tyranny. Congress (the House of Representatives & the Senate) are suppose to be investigating the questionable policies of Administrations (such as the one we have now), but they're not doing their job very well either. Has anyone gone in & reread the Constitution, Ammendments & Bill of Rights recently? We ALL need to be more aware of what's going on in our Govt & become more involved.

Washington would be pissed that they let his slaves go free... and so would all the other founding fathers. Jefferson would be pissed we all know about his little fling with one of his slaves too... and the child he fathered with her as well. Overall, I think they'd be proud of the patriotism that exists but I think they'd be upset with the way that our politics has gotten.

They wouldn't have ONE solid agreement or opinion, obviously. They didn't agree on much at that time either, the founders were just like any other group of people.

i think both. in some ways he would see that we are turning into exactly what he escaped from and tried to free this country from becoming... as far as government goes. As far as technology goes... he'd be proud of all that we have accomplished.
