Well I do not know what you want to ask. If you can give details then it would be easier.
let me answer.
When there is nothing -- it means that you cannot know that thing i.e. if a person does not have friendship with anybody throughout his life then he would not know what the friendship is all about. --- for him friendship is nothing
Only one--- it means that he has one but cannot compare with anyone else.
more than one--- it means that he knows very well about that thing and can also make comparisions. like more than one friend so one can tell which one is good or bad.
