Here's my problem: I've tried a lot of different acne stuff and most of them aren't very effective. Any recommendations? I was planning on trying out Proactiv, does it work?

I hear you-I am in my midthirties AND I was a pizzaface all through teenage years-when will it ever stop. I've tried so many things. Proactive did work but it cost a lot. My primary care physician put me on a topical lotion called Clindmycin and it works great and the copay isn't bad-ask about it or if there is another medication you might try that might help. It's best to consult your physician anyway.

I HAVE THE ANSWER TO ACNE!

I have a teen aged brother and me who have struggled with Acne for years...we tried many things, including Proactive and prescription medicines as well. Then, we found the solution.

Please don't shrug it off because this can help you a lot.

I was searching through the Internet and found www.acne.org. The site is owned by a guy named Dan. Dan, struggled with acne as well. He read medical books and tried many things on the market. Then, he found the way. BENZYL PEROXIDE! Now, I bet you have used it many times before but it hasn't done much right? Well, the reason is because everything on the market is 5% or 10% Benxyl Peroxide. These irritate your skin which causes MORE acne! (Touching it irritates it as well which causes more acne.) There is one thing on the market that has non irritating Benzyl Peroxide....2.5% Benzyl Peroxide. Netrogena on the Spot Acne Cream has 2.5. Nothing else on the market. You can get stuff on the Internet that have 2.5%! It is also on the site www.acne.org.

The regimen includes: First washing your face with a cleanser (suggested ones are on the site)

Then, drying and adding LARGE AMOUNTS or Benzyl Peroxide. In the beginning very little but you rank it up to 2 fingers after time.

Last, you moisturize, because the Benzyl Peroxide may dry up your skin. Suggested ones are on the website as well.

Go to www.acne.org and read about the clear skin regimen.

THIS MAN IS NOT TRYING TO MAKE MONEY...HE IS NOT SELLING ANYTHING!
He just wants to help. I have clear skin and so does Dan. There is also a forum where you can read more. The site teaches you how to pop a zit the right way and to find out other products that have work well.

I hope I Helped!

(My brother who is also a teen is clear as well. This regimen takes about 8 weeks to be completely clear but you will see gradually the acne go away. There is no cure for acne, so you have to do the regimen every day until acne goes away.)

PROACTIVE DOES NOT WORK AT ALL...ONLY FOR A FEW PEOPLE.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

I'm 40 and still get acne once in awhile. My 2 teenage sons suffer from it as well. The best things we've found for it are prescription--Differin gel to clear out the pores and Clindamycin to treat the pimples. Most over the counter stuff hasn't worked for us. We do like the Avon facial wash for acne prone skin with triclosan in it. There are some others that you can get in a department store. Neutrogena makes some good ones.

Here's a few tips to help your skin--don't wash more than twice a day. Any more than this and you'll end up driving your oil producing glands into overdrive and your skin will be oilier than before. Make sure you drink plenty of water--6 to 8 glasses--as it's good for skin. Essential fatty acids like vitamin E and omega 3, 6, 9 found in fish are good for the skin. So are vitamins A and D. Eat foods containing plenty of these. Exercise regularly. This keeps our bodies healthy and in turn our skin. Good sleep habits are a must as too little sleep can aggravate skin conditions. If you use makeup, make sure it's oil-free. Same for face lotions and sunblocks (Fruit of the Earth makes a good oil-free sunblock). And finally, don't ever, ever pick those little suckers. As hard as it is to actually not pick them, don't. Picking them will only make them worse. Trust me on that (personal experience). But if you have a really bad whitehead you can apply a wet washcloth (as hot as you can stand it) to the pimple. Let the heat draw out the pus then squeeze, very gently, just enough to get the pus out. Apply a good antibiotic ointment or a prescription one after it's dried out awhile.

I'm only twelve but I've got millions of pimples--on face, back... I get like so pissed out in school. Most of my classmates are still clean!!! ARGHHHHH!! One my friends in China ( she's American ) uses Proactiv and her acne are getting better. I was going to use Clean&Clear, but my mom won't let me. She says that type of stuff hurts your skin.
Here's my recommendation: Water for life! Drink at least 8 bottles of water a day, don't eat junk food or chocolate and eat well, sleep well. And plenty of excersise!
With this kind of life style, my acne is now much much better than before. Really!
Try not to put all your luck on cosmetics. Prescription guranteed.

First you should start with a complete skin care line tailored to your skin type. Then you know you don't have chemical, ingredient warefare on your skin.

For acne, I suggest acne treatment gel - I personally use and have heard for some worked better than other well known products and for a fraction of the cost!

Since one of the major causes of acne is the increased hormones in puberty, your body will eventually get rid of acne but many miserable years will pass first. If the acne is really bad, you will live the rest of your life with pitted and scarred skin. There is no evidence of becoming immune to the common drugs for acne.

Try Velocity from Mary Kay. It's only $22, use it in the morning and at night. It's for acne prone skin for teenagers and young adults.

You might be consuming too much oil. Cut down on greasy foods. Cut out animal protein for a while. Eat lots of fresh leafy vegetables and let your body get rid of some toxins. Drink more water and less soft drinks/sweet juices. I can look at a person's face and tell if they have healthy eating habits.
