heh...lol

It's complicated, but not really...if ya' follow me.

Let me see if I can describe it in a modern fashion as I do kinda' understand it. Think of Spades, the card game where you bet by assuming you will make a certain amount of pairs...

Each player is given a certain amount of dice and roll the dice in a cup like a yatzee turn. All cups are placed face down and held until the bid is up and ready to reveal. Each player is allowed to look at their roll to see what dice are what and how many of what is there.

Then you have to make a luck guess. Your bid is the number of dies that will be on the table when the cups are revealed.

EXAMPLE, let's say you roll and have 2 3's, 2 5's and a 1(out of five dice) Jack and Will are playin' as well with their own sets of 5 dice and make bets of...
JACK- 3 5's
WILL- 7 6's

there is a possibility of 15 5's but you know your roll only shows 2 so now there is a possibility of13 5's. Take in the probability of the number of other dice availabe and the chances of luck involved that they are all 5's, and I would probably guess there are not 13 5's on the table. (I can imagine if this were played for money this is where you bet coins and possibly wager up for more from the other to meet your bet, as in poker)

Now the cups are revealed and show that
YOU- 2 3's, 2 5's and a 1
Jack- 4 1's and a 5
WILL- 3 6's and a 5

If you had bet 4 5's you would be the winner
Where Jack had only bet 3 5's and Will had bet 7 6's....they are both called liars as their bets did not match up to the dice on the table.

Now a die would be taken away from Jack and Will's cups leaving yours in tact as you were the winner and the whole process continues. Until only one player exists with dice to roll.

Sorry I just finished my obsessive online search for Pirates 3 and ran across the Disney movie site that had this very game on it.

As far as the movie was concerned, I think Will was only trying to discover the wearabouts of the key and was not concerned what the stakes were as the skinny boy is a pirate now regardless. Jones put up his stake and Will put up his and well apparently anyone can jump in on this game before the cups are removed. I don't remember what the actual dice roll was, or if they even showed it. But I think it was safe to say that Will might have lost regardless.

Okay, each person would shake the can of dice which contain 5 dice in each. Each would guess the outcome of the dice, like orlando bloom guessed with the final "8 fives" which was eight five dices. And guessed wrong. But still got the key from squigwert lol.
