well i can't see why u blame matterazzi as a racist, when u can't look even more racist than u r now ^.^ cool down plz! i think zidane getting sent off did not affect the game one bit.. they were in the end of the extra time and going thru penalty right?? the mistake with trezeguet penalty was almost the same when zidane executed the first goal with a chip.. the only difference is the second one was out.. if zidane was not sent off, and did the penalty kick, would he make the same mistake? or unlucky as trez?
despite the headbutt incident, does anyone dare to comment on the faulty penalty on the first 6 minutes of the game? it was a clear diving, n italy's supposedly 2nd decent goal is taken as offside.. u can as well rewatch the video and it is a goal, in any angle u want to see it.. i mean, however the insult might have provoked zidane, a headbutt is a headbutt, a red card.. well is always red ^^ if zidane had gotten away with the headbutt, am sure that the forums would all be filled with questions damning zidane for his faulty act..
n yes i think it was not a very agreeable act to be caught red handed headbutting other players in a game.. it was an ugly act, eventhou i am sure that he was provoked. but be realistic.. players exchanging insulting words happen much everytime.. sum times they spit on the others, but oh well, doesnt anyone see, now zidane is getting all the sympathy while matterazzi is getting all the blame?? why anyone did not lipread zidane before the incident? i remember they lipread him when he was saying,"cool down" hehe.. i think seeing how popular zidane is now, the golden ball.. and partly *a large part if u allow me to say* because of the headbutt, he seems to have a quite decent end of career =) anyway google and yahoo loves it when he was searched all thru the search engine now.. they r all great footballers, with mistakes and emotion like us.. italy played the best on the 1st half, french was best on the 2nd half.. it was a half-half *pun intended* and the penalty shoot decides the winner.. that's it!
and i want to press that, well, anyone can be racist.. not italian, not french, anyone.. chinese american, spanish .. even arabic and african.. one does not born racist.. the terrorist is a gud example of racist anyway... and i dunno who, but the 1st poster of the answer, well i am dead sure that u r a racist urself!
p.s: i forget to answer to the question itself.. hoho.. i think it's true rumors said that matterazzi said sth "racial" and to quote, they have lipreader to agree on that.. well, they mention that matterazzi sumhow said abt zizou's mother being in hospital.. doesnt anyone think it's weird that matterazzi knows it? if he did, he is surely one great fan of zizou himself.. is he not?? not to miss any news about him the day on the match.. his childhood hero perhaps? ^.^ anyway, u decide!

Whatever reasons behind that head butt, Zidane ended his career in a very shameful way. I wished that he continued until the end of the match. He just let down his teammates.
France deserved a better end in this Wold Cup. It was a re-born team. At the end that was a moment of madness of Zidane, I say, but Zidane you are still BIG.

Finally, i found a answer, may not be 100% true but at least it is from the source of newspaper :
READ THIS : " A lip-reader told The Sun that Marco Materazzi called Zidane a “son of a terrorist whore” before the French Algerian was sent off in Sunday’s explosive match." and click the link : http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/1,,2006310771,00.html

I think that Zidane is a great player,he is one of the best players,so I don't think that he would butt his powerful head in the italian chest without a reason,i am arabic and i heard that the the italian player insulted zidane by saying that zizou is a dirty arabic
player,if you were him what would you do?how would u deal with it?maybe zizou was a little hard and lost his cool fastly, but the italian player is the one who started and he is the dirty one...
italy didn't deserve winning...zidane you are the BEST!

Even assuming that there was a racist comment, Zidane should have kept his cool and should have got on with his game...By falling into the trap set by Italians, Zidane has only shown how immature he is...

i read that Materazzi told Zidane a racial slur and Zidane lost his cool, if it is true it will be very ironic because FIFA's "motto" in the WC 2006 was say no to racism and in the final game too

I heard Buffon said something racial to Henry on being black, and Henry replied wth a F-U-C-K- you with raw emotion. I saw his reaction on t.v. but didn't know what was going on at the moment. Henry and Zidane are fairly cool guys on the pitch. I'd hate be Italian right about now.

I don't know why, I haven't heard anything on tv about the reason.
To the person who said Italians are racist, doesn't that categorize you as a racist to judge all italians by a comment that one person made that YOU aren't even sure of ??
I'm offended, I'm Italian and I am far from being racist. If a comment like that was made, it was very wrong, but the retaliation was just as bad and he deserved a red card.
anyhow, it's all he said/she said...nobody will ever know what was really said!
