i got my cars head repaired and it still lacked power then the other day i was driving up a hill on the freeway not to steep and i heard a loud pop then the car lost all power and when i lifted the hood it was on fire. is it possible that the work the mechanic did on the heads would cause the car to catch fire?

It definitely sounds like a law suit against that mechanic! Keep all the paperwork you have recieved from the work he did on your car and go talk with a "free consultation" lawyer. You can actually go to the mechanic first and see what he can do for your benefit., if nothing, then tell him you are filing a lawsuit against him for his faulty work and you are also going to call the better business bereau! That just might get him thinking! Good luck.

YES ,what the make and model and was this the first the mechanic did this type of work ? Some menchanic would screw it up so you go back to them and charge you to fix it.
If its an import the motor is cheap to get.

It's entirely possible that he misrouted some wiring or hoses and caused them to overheat. But my guess is that the loud pop you heard was your timing belt separating. Did he replace it with a new one? He should have.

They forgot to hook something back up properly, probably a fuel line. They did a bad head job, when they resurfaced the head, it sounds like it was uneven as well. Good luck with getting your money back.

It is quite possible. I've worked on cars and trucks for 30+ years and I've seen some pretty shoddy work as of late..:-)=
