What provoked Zidane? Please post any news article mentioning Zidane's statement about this incident.

Now, I'm just stating what I have read from other sources. Materazzi supposedly called Zidane a 'dirty terrorist' (those could be the two words exchanged), called his sister a whore, wished death upon his parents and family (Zizou's mother is now very ill and close to death), and then told him to F*** off. Anyways, an italian lip-reader told BBC reporters this and Brazilian television channel Globo, also confirmed this. The words were exchanged in Italian, but Zidane understands italian due to his time spent with Juventis F.C. Whatever the words were, it was truly a disappointing and tragic moment that will never be forgotten.

It does matter what anyone said because he is classless for what he did. He probably is to blame for the loss being that he is a great goal shooter and would have been valuable in the shoot out. His selfish act should be considered a national disgrace and also a huge cost to the sport of soccer world wide!! Unsportsmanlike behavior is never excusable especially at such a public forum where kids will mimic your every move. I played soccer since a child-I know! Great job simpleton!! If he is from Algeria, he better take the next flight before he finds himself the target of much deserved retribution!

There is no proof Materazzi said anything. Everything is simply rumor and specualtion. You can do a search on yahoo for "Zidane and mother comment" "Zidane and terrorist comment" and "Zidane and Materazzi" and you'll get loads of links. You can also visit the Zidane wikipedia site.

Materazzi told Zidane that his mother was so large and fat, that when she rolls over she falls into the ocean. Zidane didn't like that, and we all saw what happened next.

i heard that the italian asked zidane why he was playign liek his handicaped son, zidane got made and head butt him....(zidane really does have a handicaped son).....
